Product Description
Tropical Traditions Organic Raw Honey comes from the frontier areas of Canada, and is only harvested during a 6-week period in the summer. Tropical Traditions is the exclusive source of this premium organic honey in the U.S. Most commercial honeys available on the market today come from bee farms, where the bees are controlled within a certain area and get their pollen from usually only one kind of flower. Many of the plants that produce these flowers (clover, orange blossom, etc.) are grown with pesticides and fertilizers as well. In addition, almost all honeys on the market are pasteurized in high heat and filtered, removing many of the beneficial nutrients and enzymes.
Tropical Traditions Organic Raw Honey has not been subjected to the heat of processing, only warmed enough to flow (same temperatures the honey would see inside the hive). It contains live yeast and enzymes, because it has not been processed. It also contains pollen because it has not been filtered-merely screened. In order for honey to be certified organic, the beehives must be placed in isolated areas miles from the dense population, industry, traffic congestion, and farm fields treated with chemicals and landfills. Finding area which can be certified organic is extremely difficult, which is why there are so few certified organic honeys on the market. Tropical Traditions sources its honey from hives in the wild frontier areas of Canada. These regions are a rich source of wild vegetation that produce some of the finest honey in the world. The USDA and Canadian Organic Certification implies a rigorous set of standards and conditions that must be adhered to by both the producer (beekeeper) and the packager.
Try some, and we think you'll agree that there is no finer honey in North America! Raw, organic, Canadian honey, available exclusively in the US through Tropical Traditions.

I Didn't Know What Honey Was- Until I Tried This!!
By A_Plain_Janeite
I've been on a quest lately to find a good all-purpose natural sweetener. I had been using agave, and thought that it was a wonderful alternative, until I stumbled across some negative nutritional information. After reading a raw foods thread, I was directed to a company that sells the authentically made raw kind (from Mexico). But at $80 a gallon, I just wasn't sold. So my search turned to honey. I never really used honey besides putting it in tea, or in my favorite chicken recipe (honey curry chicken). The standard clover honey found in stores can be overpoweringly sweet (possibly tainted with another sweetener- like high fructose corn syrup), and just not worth the price. Last year I broadened my honey horizon when I discovered Manuka Honey from NZ. I was sold on the fact that it had wonderful medicinal properties *both internal & external* (for more info search Manuka Honey USA). While the taste is very good; the price is not ideal to use on a daily (all-purpose) basis. Anyway, I decided to search for raw honey; reading the reviews for several brands. After I read the product information on this particular one, I decided to try it. They only thing I was a little hesitant about was the fact there was only 1 review, and while it was favorable, I just wasn't sure if I wanted to plunk down $130 for it (before even trying it). But in the end, I figured that it's actually more economical to buy it in bulk (especially when you factor in S&H for the 1 lb. jar). I decided to directly order it off the companies website, because they had a 10% off coupon (basically equal to free shipping). It arrived very quickly, and in good condition! The quality is pure, and superb. The taste is very mellow, and not sickeningly sweet. It's solid, but fairly easy to scoop out. I have yet to try it in a general recipe; but I'm sure with a little prior melting, it will work wonderfully! Oh one more thing.. I remember reading a review under another raw honey, and the person said that they came across one with a "cap" on it (with bee wings, etc. mixed in!) ..So you can imagine I had a little trepidation when I first opened the container. I am happy to report however, there is NO such thing with this one! In conclusion, if you're looking for a pure raw certified organic honey- look no further than this company/brand! If you're planning on using it often, or have a large family, I highly recommend buying this size!

Thumbs up
By Linda Bland-low
Very yummy. Harvested away from GMO crops for true organic nature. Because it is truly raw, the carbohydrate content is treated differently by the body, resulting in a much lower glycemic curve. I am able to "munch" on this raw honey to my heart's content when I have a sweet tooth without getting that "sugar let down", and without gaining weight.
