The alhv works great, although I wish I would have bought the spectra hv401 instead, mainly because it is much more user friendly. The spectra is easier to use for more diverse applications and is a overall better design even though its only single slope adjustable where the alhv is dual slope they both have virtually the same IP rating for brief submersion water and dust proof housing. Instead of buying the spectra I paired the alhv with a spectra hl700 receiver trying to save a few hundred dollars I definitley wanted the 5 inch receiver instead of the standard 2.5". I am extremely pleased with the receiver, but still trying to get comfortable and confident using the adjustable slope on the laser. There is no indicator to let you know when its in manual mode and the way you have to switch from manual mode to auto is time consuming also the remote works only when you point it directly at the recievers mounted by the diode and if you do hit the reciever it only works up to about 90 feet, the spectra works up to 650 feet.Overall the laser sets up fast and is very accurate it does everthing the manufacterer claims. It does have three yr warranty the spectra only has a two yr(I think this is because they sell their lasers to more industrial environments so they expect very rough conditions ex; shipyards, road construction, concrete crews) I am satisfied with the laser and for the money I will use it for as long as it holds up which I expect to get five to ten years out of it. My next rotary will definitley be a spectra though.
