4Excellent Product
By Gene Friedman
I bought the Generalaire unit over Honeywell or Aprilaire since it comes with the best humidistat by far. The E2 humidistat has an outdoor temp monitor so it can calculate the dew point as the weather changes. This is very important if you live in the northern part of the country where temps change daily. The instructions are reasonably good. If there is anything you don't understand or need their customer service line is top-notch. I called twice and had my questions answered right away. The installation is fairly easy. They say you can use hot or cold water but I recommend to only use hot water as this will give much better evaporation and won't cool down the hot air which forces your furnace to fire longer. Two issues I had with it. One was that the collar on the outlet of the solenoid was not tightened at all. This allowed water to leak until I tightened it up myself - but this should have been done at the factory. Other issue is that the fan is somewhat loud when it is running. Not terribly noisy but I can definately hear that the unit is on even from a distance. But other brands might be just as loud - I don't know. This unit has alot of advantages like a 10 year warrranty so I heartily can recommend it.

5Well made and works well
By Tommy Mac
I installed this humidifier after my HVAC system had to be replaced due to Sandy.I have a down flow system so I installed the humidifier in the AC coil section of the furnace. I installed the humidistat in the return duct to minimize the wiring to the humidifier. It is connected through a relay on the furnace control board so it only runs when it's called to. I ran a hot water line to the humidifier for better vaporization. My furnace is in the garage next to my hot water heater so this also simplified things. The thermocouple wire for the humidistat was run through a drilled hole in a door frame to reach outside. The hardest part (which was easy) was cutting the opening for the humidifier in the furnace panel. I used a jigsaw with a sheet metal blade. The provided template made this very easy to lay out and cut.I have a separate inside humidity/dew point meter on a Ambient Weather weather station display inside the house. The humidity increased as it should, when it should. The product seems to work great, keeping the interior quite comfortable on dry days in the winter. Can't beat a 10 year warranty either

Product Description

Siemens GFCI plug in circuit breakers are intended for use in Siemens EQ, Siemens Ultimate, ITE, and Gould load centers or meter combinations. The double pole Siemens breakers may be used in 1 or 3-phase load centers and are 240V rated. To ensure the warranty on a Siemens panel is not voided, the use of Siemens breakers is required. The GFCI is intended for areas required by code to have ground fault protection, such as bathrooms, kitchens, and outdoor circuits. Check with your local electrical inspector to confirm. The use of a double pole AFCI allows for shared neutral applications in which two circuits will share a common neutral. Siemens strongly recommends against the use of "used" breakers. The installation of used breakers in a Siemens panel will void the warranty on the panel. Siemens does not sell used breakers and has not approved any 3rd party sellers to do so.

5Perfect Backpacker's Hatchet
By Coffee Luvr
Gransfors Bruks Mini Hatchet Axe for Hunting or Camping - New!This is, without question, the finest hatchet I have ever used -- or even heard of. It is as small as a hatchet can be -- yet still retain the ability to chop reasonable-sized wood. The maximum-sized tree or limb one could chop would be about 3" in diameter. You are not going to fell large trees with this hatchet, but, for backpacking, you don't need to. This tiny hatchet (just under 11" long, about 13 ounces total) is perfect for chopping small limbs for a fire. You can also hold it close to the head and use it like a knife. I take the Mini Hatchet and a tiny pocket knife when I go backpacking -- no other blades. I prefer this combination to carrying a "survival knife." The hatchet is better at chopping wood -- and a pocket knife is better at cutting small things -- than a survival knife.THE MINI HATCHET IS EXTREMELY SHARP. As I discovered (while demonstrating hatchet safety to my son, no less), even a small slip, using the weight of the hatchet head only, can lead to a trip to the doctor for stitches. This is an adult tool, for adult use only. This is not one of those silly legal warnings you see on products (or even a complaint), just a note that the Gransfors Bruks Mini Hatchet is FAR sharper than any hatchet I have ever used. I love a sharp edge, and the Gransfors Bruks certainly delivers. It also retains its sharp edge through an incredible amount of wood chopping. Each Gransfors Bruks product is hand-made by a crafstman, and the head is not painted or finished in any way. Other companies paint or buff their products to hide defects. The Gransfors Bruks craftsmen stamp their initials on their work; they do not sell products with defects. The Gransfors Bruks Mini Hatchet is the perfect tool to take backpacking -- a real tool for real bushcraft.

5Nice woods tool
By James D Kirk Jr
I own one of these. They are a nice tool. VERY small. Don't think you are going to buy this and fell big trees or split big logs. However it will cut you a nice fire to cook on if you are backpacking and don't want to carry a lot of weight. I think about 5" diameter would be the upper limit on cutting and that would take a while. But cutting a bunch of 3" logs for your fire, or some saplings to build a shelter, no problem. Also the edge is very fine and you can choke up on it and use it as a knife no problem, but because the head gets thick around the eye you are not going to slice thick stuff with this like you can with a knife. This hatchet is only 10" and 10 oz I think it is so if weight and bulk is no object go up a notch and buy the GB Wildlife Hatchet. However if lightweight is your aim this hatchet is one of the best.Because of it's light weight it is best to sort of snap it right before impact when chopping to give it a little extra "umph" but because it is so sharp it will chop pretty deep.

5IF THERE IS A BETTER HATCHET OUT THERE - I HAVE FAILED TO FIND IT.
By D. Blankenship
I do not own one of these fine little hatchets but I have used this small model quite a lot as well as the model which is one step up as to size and heft - the Wildlife Hatchet and also the Hunter's Axe. I have been using "camp" hatchets for most of my life and continue to do so. I can tell you truthfully that of all the hatchets I have used over the past near 60s years, this one (and all of the other Gransfors Burks products) are simply the best available. While I am a firm believer in the philosophy of "buy American," I have to admit that we simply do not come close to the quality found in Gransfors Burks equipment. This company, located in Sweden, has been around for a little over 100 years now and is going strong. That alone should tell you something. Unlike almost all of our American companies that manufacture this sort of tool, GB has not outsourced its manufacturing process to the Far East...they kept it at home and did it right. When you first lay eyes on this hatchet you are going to find that it is only about 10 inches long and weighs-in at only about 10 oz. When I first borrowed this hatchet from a friend while hiking and camping my first thought was "yeah, right...you must be kidding." I actually made a snide comment to my friend at the time. Three minutes later I had to learn to eat crow...again! My goodness, I had never used, felt or seen anything quite like this hatchet, nor I tell you right now, have I ever come across anything like it again, unless you count the further borrowing is this hatchet and other HB products. The balance on this thing is absolutely perfect! As others have warned you in their reviews; you will not be able to start a major logging project with this thing as that is not what it was built for. This is a camp hatchet...more specifically a hatchet to take on long hikes. I have had not problem with sticks up to three or four inches in diameter, of all kinds of wood, and have quite quickly downed six and seven inch saplings. The workmanship on the blade of this, balanced with the hickory handle (The wooden handle is an absolute joy to hold), make this almost the perfect hiking hatchet. The blade on this thing is so sharp that it can be used as a knife...a very sharp knife, and the sharpness of the blade lasts a long, long time and is capable of taking tremendous abuse with no ill effects. Putting a new edge on this hatchet is not the easiest job you will ever have. We are talking some hard, hard steel here folks, but a bit of elbow grease and knowledge will make the effort well worth it. I DO NOT recommend putting this thing on a grinding wheel...it should be hand sharpened. Please take careful note here. Due to the sharpness of this blade and due to the fact that it is light and you can put tremendous velocity into each strike, this is a very, very dangerous tool if you do not know what you are doing or if you get careless. This thing will take a finger, hand, toe or foot off in a second or give you a major laceration/wound if you hit some other body part even slightly. This is not a tool I would send with your kid on his or her first Scouting adventure...not unless you have trained them well! Seriously...this thing can cause some major big time damage! The only reason I do not own one of these hatchets is due to the cost. Life is strange and if you look at it from a certain angle, sort of unfair. When I was young and had an almost constant use for this thing I simply could not afford it. Now that I am old and can pretty well afford any hatchet I want, I simply do not use such a tool often enough to justify the cost. If you are young, do a lot of camping and hiking and do not wonder where your next meal is coming from, then I most certainly would recommend you fork out the coin for one of these. This is the sort of gear you will be able to hand down to your great-great grand sons and daughters.Don BlankenshipThe Ozarks
