Expensive, but worth it

The Universal Hydraulic Flaring Tool is a professional grade tool that is easier to use than any of the DIY (do it yourself) flaring kits. I keep my cars for a full lifetime. This means that I am often forced to make the choice to pay someone to do maintenance work or do it myself. Rusty brake line replacement has a low part cost but very high labor cost. Thus I do the job myself.The challenge is that for the standard replacement brake line, you have to make a DOUBLE flare for the fitting to work right. Worse yet is when you encounter a metric bubble. The Universal Hydraulic Flaring Tool handles both with ease.Out of the box this tool made a perfect flare with an inside finish that looked machined. The alignment was trivial, and strength needed to use the hydraulic adapter to make the flare is trivial compared to that needed with the $30 manual flare tools. Example: Advanced Tool Design ATD-5463 Double Flaring Tool Kit or Ridgid 23332 Flaring ToolThe unit is heavier than the manual units, about 3.4 lb and the dies are about another 6 oz. However, it is light enough and of a long and slender layout that I can make joints reaching around muffler etc. while under the car. In fact, in many cases I can now make flares where I could not have had the leverage to use the screw driven manual units.There are other professional units out there which weigh over 8 pounds and use a lever system to apply the pressure to form the flare. Double/Single Professional Brake Tubing Flaring Tool These may be OK when mounted in a vice, but when you are making a splice under the car then the Universal Hydraulic Flaring Tool is the superior solution.The total cost of the Tool and the parts to repair my rusted brake lines was still $50 less that the quote I received at the brake shop. I now am ready to work with transmission, gas lines etc. since the Universal kit comes with all of the necessary dies. If you are ONLY interested in brake lines, the same tool with less dies is available for about $40 less. Flaring tool

I'm happy with this product. After using the typical parts store flaring tools for years, I got tired of having to remake pipe joints because the pipe slipped in the tool, or the flare was off-center, or it leaked after I installed it.With this tool, I don't foresee any of those problems. I'm currently rebuilding an older car, and I made all new brake and fuel lines using an older tool. Most of the flares leaked! I've remade them using the Mastertool flaring tool, and now I have no problems. I anticipate many years of trouble-free brake, fuel and air-conditioning lines.

Very cool Mastercool tool lives up to the price

I bought this tool to do brake lines and fuel lines. It makes perfect flares without the annoyances of clamp and screw flaring tools. I'm not a pro but any pro would be happy to have this tool on the shelf. It saves time and works right without a lot of fiddling around. I like the tool so much I found myself looking to see if Mastercool made any other tools for which I could find a use. If you can handle the price, you will not regret the purchase.

Just buy it!

Have now logged over 3k with this kit on my 06' F4i and I.M.O this is one of the best upgrades you can buy for the money. My bike feels just as quick as my buddies 08' gsxr 6 and is as smooth as butter. Yeah, you do lose a few mph and unless you buy a speedohealer the speedo is a off a couple mph. To be honest though unless your on a track you really don't need to be doing 155+.Pros: more usable power - smoother acceleration - smoother downshiftsCons: lower top speed - speedo off a few mph

Aptly Named!

The Daiwa Exceler 6.3:1 High - Speed Baitcast Reel is one of the finest I have ever used regardless of price. There are many that have better this or that, but for overall excellence its hard to beat. The low profile, the ease of thumb control, the smoothness in the cast and the high speed return are its assets. Then it comes with a price most anyone can afford. Great job Daiwa.
