Dynamis DCC Handset

I have had the Dynamis Pro Box DCC system for about 6 months now. I started with the basic system but soon realized that I needed to upgrade to the Pro Box to read CVs and use other features that the basic system does not offer.The system is fairly intuitive and easy to use but the plastic construction makes it excessively fragile, in my opinion. The handset is easy to use but is fragile. My dog bumped me while I was kneeling down to place a car on the track and I dropped the handset less than two feet onto my carpeted (with pad) floor and it went dead forever. It's out of warranty now so I'll buy a replacement handset to get me by while I evaluate the alternative systems out there.Maintaining line of sight is not a problem for me but I think a radio signal might be better than the IR signal used by Dynamis. The system works pretty well, except that I noticed intermittent performance with Proto2000 and MTH locos and both the decoder companies and the Dynamis companies deny the problem is with one of their units. I know from online forums that other dynamis users have experienced intermittent signals despite having clear line of sight, which makes me think there is an issue with the logic and because it doesn't have a large market share, the decoder folks won't make a change.I am now looking at the MRC and the NCE wireless systems to see if they will be more useful and durable. I eliminated the Digitrax from consideration because it looks out of date and their wireless controller is too big, bulky and ugly. Hope this helps.

Unreliable

System is well thought out but the wireless reception is spotty at best, cutting out after a dozen feet and sometimes not working at all, apparently for no reason. Ordered a simpler DCC controller out of frustration.

Just receive this with my Bachmann train set, so far no problems.Not have and issues with signal loss.Pretty easy to program, even a adult can figure it out.
