Strathwood has broadened its handsome collection of cast-aluminum furniture with the St. Thomas ensemble. Durable yet surprisingly lightweight, these two armchairs add a more upscale look to a deck or patio than wooden furniture, and are easier to move around. Screw-on glides underneath the chairs' legs allow some leeway in adjusting for uneven surfaces. Able to hold up to 500 pounds, each chair measures 25 inches wide by 27 inches deep by 36 inches high and weighs 16-1/2 pounds.
Adding comfort to each metal chair is a 3-inch-thick cushion upholstered in fabric designed for outdoor use. The light beige cover is made of Olefin, which repels water and wipes clean but does not remove for cleaning. Two Velcro tabs on the back attach the cushion to the chair so it won't slide around or blow off in a strong wind. The tabs are located in the centers of the back corners, allowing for easy flipping of the cushions to hide spills or just to rejuvenate them. Each cushion measures 21-1/2 inches deep by 20 inches wide.
The full St. Thomas dining collection includes a dining table, a side table with ice bucket, a choice of dining armchair styles and an umbrella with matching base. For further accessorizing, pair the pieces in this collection with pieces in the St. Thomas Cast Aluminum Deep Seating Collection. Each piece features the same ornamental scrolling vine motif in a dark-brown finish with bronze highlights and silver flecks. This all-weather, easy-care furniture is made from the highest grade of aluminum. It is sand casted, covered in a powder-coat finish, and designed to be rust-free.
Cushion Care and Cleaning: Gently brush off dirt before it becomes embedded in the fabric and wipe up any spills as soon as they occur. Gently spot clean only with mild soap and cool water using a sponge or soft brush, then air dry cushions in a sunny location. Bring cushions indoors during inclement weather and store in a dry place when not in use.

There is the potential for variation in the hue of any fabric, depending upon the light source in which it is viewed. For outdoor fabrics, sunlight is the source textile manufacturers use to verify hue accuracy. Faith Restored!

Our deck furniture was in bad need of replacement. We had purchased it on line from an upscale catalog. We had so much trouble with it to begin with...sending things back and forth and we just finally gave up and reinforced the wood furniture ourselves. After 2 summers, my husband agreed that we needed to purchase something else. We researched many cast aluminum sets from different stores and manufacturers. We looked at the most expensive ones and the lesser expensive ones. We were hesitant to order anything on line again but after reading the reviews for the Strathwood cast aluminum, we decided to try once more. The price was right but I was very nervous about the quality. We got the last of the pieces today and we are so happy with the whole set! The cusions are nice and thick and dry out quickly (they sat in the rain today but dried fast enough to sit on tonight). As a packaging engineer, I can vouch for the packing which was surprisingly thorough. We could not have done better if we had shopped at an expensive home furnishing store that would have cost us double!

One chair mis-sized, cushions impossible to clean

These chairs look very nice, but when my set of 4 arrived, one of them was oddly mis-sized, being much bigger than the other three. I decided to keep it as is, rather than deal with the hassle of returning such a large item. The chairs themselves are well-made, but the cushions are impossible to clean. They became stained almost immediately and I have tried numerous products and scrubbing, to no avail. I hope Amazon changes the cushions to a more practical fabric.

Good quality for the price...with a caveat

I purchased 2 sets (4 chairs total) and was surprised by the decent quality. They're good-looking, sturdy, but not too heavy to move around. The cushions are good quality, weather-resistant fabric, and are very thick -- you sit a little bit higher on these chairs than others, at least until the cushions start to squash down. I'm 5' 7", so the height is OK for me, but shorter folks might find them too high. (Or, you could purchase thinner cushions separately; the slats on the chairs are such that you really need to have some kind of cushions.)I also got the matching 48" table and am happy with it.That said, this purchase might be hit or miss, since I noticed that others have mentioned welding issues (I haven't found any -- yet). The only problem I've had is that one of the chairs was missing one of the glide/leveler thingies that screw into the bottom of the chair, so until I find a replacement, I really can't use that chair. Calls to service/selling company, [...], have gone unanswered. I think I'll be able to find something, somewhere, online that will do the job, but I'm irritated that yotrio hasn't responded.
