easily scratched and micro chip

cold steel trail master sai mai is not a good survival knife, had this knife for 3 months now, looks great, feels great, easily out shines all my other knives.however. having taking it out to the forest for 3 days, got back home, it is scratched absolutly everywhere, the fine polish it came with, is gone, there's long scratch marks, and messing scratch marks, the sheath will scratch the knife too, having taking it in and out alot of the times, however, the knife is very sharp, sharpest knive I currently own, but, at home, after the trip, there's a small chip at the edge, I have no idea how it got there, or when, but if you rub your finger nail along the edge, (not against the edge), you can feel the dent, also if you view it on an angle, you can see it. it's very tiny.It cost 5 times as much as some of my other knives, all i can say after buying this, dont use it, just keep it as a good collection knife, dont even take it out of the sheath or put it back in, coz doing that will scratch the knife.pro:very shining polishvery sharpgood qualitygood weightcon:easily scratchedsheath can cause damagecan chiphard to re-sharpen due to it's special ground edge

The Trailmaster San Mai Steel knife is one of the strongest and sharpest knives that Cold Steel Makes. The Kraton handle is durable and slip resistant. The tang keeps the user in control of the blade. I have used this knife for cutting meats only. However, the blade maintains the edge and it cuts through flesh like butter.The blade is easy to sharpen, using an Apex Pro Edge. One negative is that the blade does tend to scratch easily. However, a blade polish helps mitigate a lot of that. The sheath is durable leather and it is secured through a belt loop for vertical carry. A snap keeps the knife in place.San Mai steel, unlike Aus 8 or Carbon V, is a sandwich of two different steels which give durability and flexibility. The temper line allows you to distinguish it from basic knives. Though the outlandish demonstrations by the company seem far fetched, these knives are capable of cutting thick rope or chopping through bone. This is mainly designed as a combat and utility knife. However, it is not exactly an easy knife for daily carry. I see it more for hiking, hunting or camping.Though the company only covers this with a one year warranty, I doubt you'll ever need it.

Great knife. Awesome balance and weight. Sharp as sharp can be. Don't carry this knife anyware near you if you have a criminal record...you will go down for it!
