Product Description
E-flite?s version of the Taylorcraft 450 ARF is an easy-to-assemble, lightweight, scale parkflyer constructed of balsa and plywood. Its lightweight construction and high wing placement make this almost-ready-to-fly Taylorcraft a docile, easy-to-fly aircraft that is gentle enough for most pilots, yet the replication of the clipped wing variant makes the model aerobatic-capable so more advanced modelers can experiment with loops, rolls and inverted flight. This model also comes highly prefabricated so you can get in the air in as little as 3?4 hours. All of the control surfaces are factory-hinged and the tailwheel assembly comes installed in order to save the modeler time. And, the pre-molded side windows pop into the fuselage with little effort. The durable aluminum landing gear gives the Taylorcraft solid handling, even when takeoffs and landings occur in not-so-friendly locations, and its steerable tail wheel aids in runway taxiing. Its lightweight design is focused around E-flite's Park 450 BL Outrunner Motor, with a great power-to-weight ratio. Or, the Taylorcraft can be paired with the E-flite 480 BL Outrunner Motor for maximum power. The Taylorcraft utilizes E-flite?s new sliding motor mount system which allows modelers to mount multiple engines to the same airframe using the same, adjustable mount. And, swapping out batteries is a breeze thanks to the easy-access magnetic battery hatch.

This is an easy plane to assemble. I wouldn't agree with the manufacturers suggestion that it only takes three hours to assemble- your windows won't even be dry- you have to glue them in. You can assemble it with very modest (inexpensive) servos. A "480" motor will provide unlimited vertical.Again, it's a good model. What is preventing it from being a great model is little problems. E-flite chose to use balsa in places that should have been plywood- specifically around firewall, ceiling strut, floor, and landing gear area. Fit and finish around landing gear "strengthened" area is especially poor. Battery hatch is difficult to insert batteries. Even 3s 1500 will be awkward to insert and secure.In-flight handling is pretty good. Wind movement is very noticeable due to the short wings, and very light weight. Flys slowly well and glides like a champ.

I have flown many park flyers of all types over the years. I purchased this from a gift certificate and I can vouch that the flight performance is amazing. There is a long thread dedicated to this plane over on RC groups which solidifies its popularity.Flies very slow, or open her up for some beautiful aerobatics.Does not like wind at all, I would not recommend flying in more than 5MPH windsThe structure is quite fragile, I have pulled off all the covering to customize the trim scheme and have strenghthened key areas like the landing gear area and firewall. This is not a good airplane to learn on, get your wings with a trainer and then move on to this little bird. One good stall into the ground can break a lot so this is definatelly a plane for modders/builders.The quality of parts is good overall, especially the windows which are very easy to install.Would be awesome if this was offered as a kit, but I guess that is wishful thinking in this day and age. What are you waiting for, buy one!!
