Product Description
Just as the kitchen is the hearth of the home, a play kitchen becomes the hearth of the playroom. Children use their play kitchen to mimic what they see taking place daily: boil water for tea, fry an egg, or bake cookies. A play kitchen encourages the imagination to invent new uses, be it a restaurant, vendor stand or cooking school.
Ascetically simple, yet extensive in function, our kitchen will impress the greatest culinary masters and kitchen craftsmen. Created with the warmth and durability of solid cherry with walnut and birch accents. The stove, burner and faucet knobs work smoothly without the use of any metal hardware. The brushed metal sink bowl is made from heavy gauge stainless steel and may be removed for easy cleaning.
A sliding cutting board pulls out 12" to allow access for more children. Oven and sink doors operate on self-closing hinges. A partition divides the oven from the sink. The back of the kitchen is open, allowing it to be positioned against a wall or in the middle of a room.
The Simple Kitchen Hearth is 24 " wide, 14" deep and 40" tall. The counter is 22 1/2" from the floor and the hutch shelving is 5" deep.
Our Camden Rose Simple Hearth ships in one box. The hutch requires assembly as well as screwing on the handles and faucet (Phillips screw driver required).
PLEASE NOTE: THE PRICE INCLUDES SHIPPING WITHIN THE CONTINENTAL US ONLY. SHIPPING TO ALASKA, HAWAII OR CANADA REQUIRES AN ADDITIONAL $60 SHIPPING FEE.

This is a beautiful toy made of beautiful cherry wood. It arrives almost totally assembled, only the faucet, cupboard handle, oven handle, and hutch have to be attached. It was packed wonderfully, a lot of time must have gone into selecting the boxes and packing materials; we even saved them so we are able to repack it when we move so nothing will happen to the kitchen. The oven has a little rack in the middle, really nice to see after looking at lots of kitchens where the food would have to sit on the floor of the oven. Palumba sells a cookie sheet that fits perfectly in there. The cupboard side is great for storing play food but a shelf in there would have been nice. The burners are just the right size for play pots and pans. The sink is nice but the stainless steel bowl move around a little bit and makes noise while the kids are playing. The hutch with the shelves is nice for keeping play food organized yet accessible. The pull out counter space is a great idea and gives the kids plenty of room to play. The kitchen is currently used by my six year old, my four year old, and my 18 month old and they are all able to play at once when the counter is pulled out. I would have liked it to be a bit larger though, I was surprised at how small it is. It would be great if it was a few inches taller and wider, although this could be because my oldest is very tall for her age so many toys for kids her age seem too small.I really like that it is not only a beautiful piece of furniture but it is gender neutral, a quality becoming hard to come by in toys. I bought this after having already owned a wooden kitchen from a toy store and having it broken beyond repair after less than a year with just two kids using it. I wanted something that would stand up to years of use by all four of my kids. I know this will and will last well beyond that. It should retain much of it's value for resale, something plastic toys do not do, but we will likely keep it for our grandchildren. Palumba was a great company to buy from, they have very nice people working there who answered my questions and quickly solved the only small issue with my order. The shipping was very fast, the kitchen and everything else I ordered arrived at my door just a couple days after ordering, I had thought it would take more than a week for two large boxes.

After months of searching for a nice wooden kitchen I found this one and although I balked at the price at first, I have to say I have been VERY pleased with it. It arrived quickly in perfect condition and needed very little assembly. My two kids (4yrs & 18mo) love it and my 4 y/o will not outgrow it any time soon. It has a pull-out counter for a cutting board or added play space, which minimizes fighting :) The wood is sanded smooth but is unfinished-which is understandable, as some people might want to paint/stain/personalize it, etc. I think the wood is beautiful as-is so I just put clear protection on it (Mfr recommends beeswax) to protect it from water & Play-Doh. The knobs are cleverly attached & there's no worry of screws stripping loose & knobs falling off. Overall a well thought-out, well-crafted, beautiful kitchen worth the money!

This is a purchase you won't regret. Got one for our little boy when living in Miami, and since shipping myself the item to Hawaii would have been so expensive, I just got a new one for the Hawaii home and passed on the one in Miami to a friend. Yes, it is so beautiful that you just want to keep it in your home... no matter what age the children might be at (or adults :) ). Keep it under the rainbow canopy silk with the matching play stands- it looks so wholesome and feels so good to have in the home. My son's toys are organized in baskets on the shelfs of the play stand, and the setup has often turned into a store, farmers market or restaurant. My son has always been very 'boy-ish'... so I thought this would soften him up and nurture that caring loving side of a male (would love to see more of that in the future generations :) )... and it has worked so far. He is 7 and still loves playing with it. It is usually the first thing adults are even drawn to as they enter our home... just gives that wholesome good feeling. Will probably keep this item in the home for grand-children.The quality is beyond superb... I talked to the owner many years ago and had tears in my eyes when I heard of the process of how these items are made: They wait until a tree falls in the forrest, then have the local Amish people log it out with horse and wagon not to disturb wild-life, then adult hand-crafters shape the toys and items and before it's shipped out they bless them. Now that is a business I completely want to support! I know they are not making much profit (after all, it is adults supporting family making these items, not children in China...) , but I personally would pay even more for this item. It is made for life-times.... so refreshing :)So happy to see this item offered on Amazon... if you can't afford it, maybe create a gift registry or have several family members go in on it for a birthday or christmas... it is worth it.With GratitudeKicka
