5Great binoculars
By Thomas Warner
After reading a ecstatic review of these binoculars, I decided to buy them to supplement another super pair of Swarovsky glasses. Although they are both almost equally as good, these glasses have the edge because they focus much closer than the Swarovsky's, which is important to me. I also feel that they are just "a hair" better in overall clarity, although this could simply be because the SW's are quite old glasses.

5Binoculars that truly last a lifetime
By Richard L Ellis Jr
I received a pair of these 42 years ago in 1969. Yes, that's right, when I was 12 I was given a pair of Zeiss 8x30. They became our family binoculars along with two other binoculars that have long since worn out. The Zeiss are clear, bright and rugged with unbelievable eye relief. After college I gave them to my mother and bought another pair for myself which I use to this day. My mom still keeps hers in her kitchen to observe song birds at the feeder. The green rubber on hers has started to crack but the black rubber on my 8x30BGA is as supple as the day I bought them some thirty years ago. The rubber technology has improved since the late 1960's and I don't expect the same problem with my black ones during my lifetime. If you are looking for binoculars that will last a generation or two, these are the ones to get. By the way, I asked for the Zeiss when I was 12 as I had admired my grandfather's Zeiss binoculars which were made in pre WWII Germany. Someone in the family must still have those.
