my son loves his new scooter. very durable thus far but had another one for my older son that has lasted years and it was used when we found it. easy to assemble and instructions are humorous. rated educational as low because do not see this as such but more for fun and fitness.

This is the second "skootch" I've bought for my daughter as she outgrew her first one (first one was smaller with the small front wheel). This California Chariot is great...for the price you can't beat it. It's study as a rock, well built and fits my daughter (45" tall perfectly, as well as me 5' 11"). The build and material are solid and well built. Assembly took 10 minutes (unless you're dumb as a brick, then you might want to have your child help you). It even comes with the necessary allen key to tighten the screws. All you need to do is grease the bearings on the headset. You'll want to adjust the brakes a bit to get them centered and working evenly. In fact, my only negative (and this is minor) is that the brake calipers are a bit on the "cheap" side (but then again, I'm used to Dura Ace components which run $1000 for a full set on a road bike). With some adjustments and tweaking I was able to get the brakes centered and working well.As for customer service, let me explain what happened: the same day my daughter received this as a gift my wife accidentally drove over the right side "leg" (part with the small wheel) while pulling into the garage. The legs slip over the frame (makes for easier shipping), so I removed the bent leg and tried to fit it. NO WAY could I undo the damage, even when heating it up with a torch (the part that holds the small wheel got pushed INTO the tubular leg, so fixing it was going to be VERY, if not impossible, to fix). Trust me, no cheap material was used on this frame!Anyhow, I called the manufacturer and the woman that helped me was VERY friendly and sent a replacement leg free-of-charge!! She didn't even charge for shipping. In fact, she called me the following day to confirm the color and to let me know it would ship out that day. Now that, my fine feathered friends, is customer service! In summary, your kid will LOVE this thing (I even ride it around the cul-de-sac...and I'm 43 years old), and if you have any problems, call customer service. They WILL help you.

The Chariot is quite a fun thing to ride. The adults and the kids in our family (4 and 6 yr old) all like to ride this. You can push it like a scooter, using either foot, or you can swing the handle bars back and forth combined with some body movement and get it to go forward just with that. You can also balance it up on one of the back wheels, lifting the other back wheel off the ground. We almost want to get another one so there's not always arguing over who gets to ride it!
