Very nice desk

I was very pleased with the speed of the shipping. The desk arrived one day before the expected delivery. It comes in one box, but I would recommend two people lifting or moving it to where you need it to be as it is very heavy.Not all of the pieces are labeled so you will have to have a good eye and a basic understanding of how to put furniture together to match everything up. The instructions are not hard and come in two sets. There are two options for putting this desk together. You can reverse the location of the tower compartment and the filing cabinet to the left or right.This desk took me 2 hours and 20 minutes to put together working at a sluggish pace. I built furniture for a living for 3 and half years. Had I been putting this desk together at work, I would have completed it in an hour to an hour and a half tops. Since this was for personal use, and I had the whole day off, I took my time. I would suggest for people that do not have the same background to set aside 4 hours for assembly and you will probably need the help of a second person for at least 2 of the steps. I read the reviews for the larger version of this desk and the people that assembled it complained of it being extremely difficult to assemble. I can assure you, it is not that complicated, so don't let them scare you off.I have one problem with this desk that I knew I would run into as it is an issue I constantly run into with mass produced factory desks of this nature. The left rail for the small drawer did not match up perfectly with the rail on the inside of the left wall of the desk making it uneven and a terrible eyesore. To correct this, I removed the rail from the wall and drilled new holes to match the drawer so that it laid straight. If this is also an issue for you and you choose to drill your own holes, be careful, measure twice, and go slow.A second issue is another one I knew I would run into. The bottoms of the drawers are thin cardboard. Why on Earth they can't just supply one more piece of wood for these sections I'll never know. My problem with the cardboard is if you put too much weight in those drawers, they WILL buckle. I have seen it countless times. Abide by the weight limits to prevent this from happening to you. The weight limits are as follow:Small drawer - 18 lbsFiling cabinet - 42 lbsTower compartment (Wood) - 100 lbsKeyboard drawer - 30 lbsDesktop - 300 lbsI did not purchase the hutch to this desk and I do not recommend you do either. Hutches on mass produced factory furniture WILL bow over time even if you do not keep anything on the top of it. The material simply is not good enough. The only time I would recommend a hutch is if it is hand crafted with solid wood.The two issues I have with this piece are minor and I would still recommend the desk. They do however, prevent me from rating it 5 stars. It's a very nice looking desk and I will review the product again in 6 months to see how it holds up to regular use in regard to scratching or staining. I am very happy with the desk as it offers a lot of space for all I needed it for, for the price I paid for.

Didn't get five stars because:The keyboard sliding drawer is loose. I will have to figure out a way to secure it better.The tower cabinet door didn't fit correctly. I ended up having to take it off, which is no big deal because the way it sits in the room, no one can see it anyway.Overall it is very sturdy and very nice looking.
