A good thing that could be better

I bought the teacher bundle which is a terrific combo, since you can emulate the functionality of the calculator right in your computer. Obviously this is an advantage since the big display of the computer make a great difference. A teacher can compose asignments using the computer emulator, lo9ad them into the calculator and bring them to the classroom for the proper distribution among students using the same device.The unit that I received came with a software that could not be installed in my computer simply because the serial number was missing. Amazon kindly issued a RM after Texas Instruments refused to give me a replacemente disk or even a serial number. It Didn't matter that I offered TI to provide proof of purchase or similar proof that I was a legitimate owner. So, I returned de product. I was dissapointed with TI's Technical Support. In a separate issue I got a trial version of the teacher software which could not install either for unknown reasons. I called TI and they asked for the log file that the installer produces. That was about a month ago and never heard of them even since.I used the calculator for about 3 weeks and it does the job well. The only big complaint that I have is that the screen contrast is too flat. For a young student it could be OK but since the calculator is meant to be used for students and teachers as well, people like me may find it somewhat difficult to read. It amazes me that TI could not develop this relatively high end device with a better screen, or even a color one. For instance, an inequality graph was so flat that I could not distinguish the clear and the greyed out portion.I hope that this is a defect of that particular unit and not the actual design. Despite this important shortcomings, TI-Nspire represents a new and welcome trend to study math. I will reorder it tomorrow.

Outstanding Learning Tool

This product targets high school students and teachers, but I purchased it to perform graduate school work in engineering. I love it! I highly recommend all students purchase the entire package. If you like Mathcad but dislike the price, consider this the "poor college student" version -- and, unlike Mathcad, you can take it to your class with you!
