5A Wonderful Useful Cat Tower
By Cindy A. Osterhout
I bought this cat tower with high expectations since it is covered in Sisal. It was my hope that my cats would see the sisal, know it was the same stuff that was on their scratching posts and cat tower and claw their hearts out. (I have one kitty who has decided that clawing the furniture ie. my desk and an etegere, is JUST the thing to do. Until now she has used the scratching posts.) So, it was with great expectations and high hopes that I took this leap of faith. The ordering instructions say that it may take one to three weeks for this to arrive; however, in my case, it came in two days. I do live in the suburbs of a large metropolitan area, so if you live in the boonies it may take longer.I was amazed when I unpacked this gadget. It came in a large box, but within the box was the tower in a nicely zipped plastic container that fit it perfectly. (If your cats do not like the tower they can play with the plastic: kidding. Like good children, they WILL play with the plastic until you trash it.)So, if you need a large plastic contained for pet toys, you now have one.The tower is 27 inches tall.It is 14 inches in diameter with a SMALL rim around the top.The sides are ENTIRELY covered with Sisal.Faux Fur fabric coveres the bottom edge (only, not the entire bottom) of the tower, also the entry way to the condos, the top seat, and the inside seats of the condo. The insides of the condos are covered in, what appears to be, the fabric backing of the Sisal. It is quite soft and non-irritating to kitties. The middle condo has a little hanging faux fur covered ball attached. (Probably won't last long if kitties play with it much.)The condos easitly hold my kittens, and are a snug fit for my 11 pounder. I do not think the 16 pound lady would fit, but at present, she has not deigned to try.The condo is fabricated from Very Heavy Duty particle board that seems stronger than your average plywood.Given the great quality of the products making up this tower, I expect it to last a lifetime. (Well, the dangling ball and perhaps the faux fur will perish sooner.) But the craftsmanship seems good and materials appear to be quite durable. My two older cats did not Immediately take to this tower. Prior to putting it in the hallway, I sprayed it with good Catnip spray and then put Real Catnip on it and in the condos. My gregarious 3 year old male, came over and kicked the tires and jumped on top to see if it was stable. It was. Then he flipped up his tail and returned to his own cat furniture by his window. Later, he came and scratched it (Hoorah) and climbed in one of the condos. He likes them snug and fit perfectly. Again, he weighs 11 pounds. But back to his window he went. The 16 pound female was placed on top by me. She tolerated that a few seconds, capnip and all, then jumped down and flipped her tail.(She is secretly afraid of all things new, so this is not at all unusual for her.)Then I let my two kittens have a go at it. As you might imagine, they were all over it. Up and down, scratched, sat on the top, climbed in a condo, batted the ball and then hurried off for other adventures. The item sat in the hall, which is a main cat throughfare in this home, for about a week. It was played with occasionally, but no great shakes. So, I moved it over by a window. Aha! It became The Item to be the First One On! The male has adapted this tower top as his place to be when the afternoon sun is right and when the quail and sparrows come to feed. The kittens are all over it all day. The female continues to ignore it. Not a problem.lI have a couple of cubes in my bedroom and am currently considering setting the tower up on top of the cube so that the condos have a view of the outdoors also. The tower is heavy enough and the cube big enough, that this would not cause toppling. One thing I Have discovered after buying 4 or 5 pieces of "cat furniture" is that the best thing to consider is location, location, location. The nearer a window, the better it seems. I do not have a cat that is a "hider" who goes into the condo and squirrels himself away to sleep, but if you do have one or more of those types of cats, this would be perfect. But, in my usage of cat furniture, I have discovered that if I have what I want (the sisal sides) and work for a week or two to find the proper location, then the cats love and use the piece and we are both happy.I have had to take a couple of items back that just did not work for some reason, but, if the piece is really good and sturdy, then the cats will like it and a place will be found for it.So, after a couple of weeks of working with this nice Sisal Tower, I have found its niche and the cats are clawing and sleeping and watching out the window. I recommend it. I do suggest you get catnip spray to put on the sisal sides so the cats get the idea (I even run their claws up and down it to give them the idea). I have used the following spray and found it quite good.Pure Catnip Rejuvenator Oil Spray-1 Oz BottleWith the use of the right position, allowing the cat to get used to it, and possibly the use of Catnip Spray, I think you will be really happy with this. I am and hope you will be also.

4Tight Fit
By Jill L. Henderson
The holes in this condo are far too small for an average sized cat, none of my three will go inside it (7lbs, and two at 12lbs). The sisal surrounding the condo is awesome and allows my cats to scratch anywhere. What it does do is give my female cat a place to jump to get away from the boys when they harass her.

5My cat house
By Adam Ross
My 4 perfect felines haven't stopped playing with the cat house since it arrived. Well worth the money. The sisal is great for the cats to sharpen their nails.
