Product Description
Typically, the curved Shamshir blade had a narrow cross section and a sharp point. It had a simple brass or steel crossbar hilt and an equally straightforward handle made from wood or animal horn that terminated in a distinctively bulbous pommel. This pommel was offset slightly to help the hand resist centrifugal force when making a hard cutting stroke. Our version of this historic saber replicates the original as closely as possible. The only modifications were to substitute a modern high carbon steel for the blade and to use black faux buffalo horn for the handle. Even the scabbard is a close copy of the original. It’s made of thick, black leather (so it won’t dull the blade) and reinforced by a brass throat and chape, and comes complete with dual suspension rings.

...a bit better why some men talk of fondling swords. Though I'm not quite that creepy or foregone, I have great love for this little scimitar. I've named her Güzel, the one they sent me, and a beauty she is indeed. My only worry is edge retention, as I noticed some very very small nicks on the blade after attacking cardboard.

I got this sword from Bigsupplyshop.com for somewhere around $195 mark. The sword is really elegant with its black n' brass handle and matching scabbard. The factory edge is unparalleled and paper-shaving sharp! Even though the handle is smooth, the bulbous pommel counters your hand moving down, and actually makes for a very comfortable handling experience. My only concern is that when drawing the sword, it gets tough when it comes to the curve of the sword. This is easily countered buy a "push-pull" motion, but its still rather annoying.Overall, I love the thing. Its good looking, functional, and the design has tons of history. What more could you ask for in a sword?

Let me start by saying, this is a very, very handsome sword. Came out of the box, pointy and sharp. The weight of the sword alone, About 2 pounds, was more than enough to slice through about 2-3 inches of the box it came in. It's very light and seems very sturdy. I haven't gotten to test it yet, due to living in the city and swinging around a sword outside would probably not go over so well with the police. Those things said. I've got some complaints. Small imperfections on the brass on the scabbard. It's VERY hard to get the sword into the scabbard initially I had to oil it up and force it. After the initial..."scabbard popping" the blade goes in a lot easier, still pretty difficult to remove and sheathe. There is a small scuff halfway along the blade.I feel like, for the price, these things should be not an issue. All things considered, it adds a slightly worn look to the sword which I think makes it look more intimidating. If you want a nice, clean, pretty display piece, this probably would work with some brass polish....That's it.
