By Ken R. Townsend
I bought one of these packs before my first deployment. They issued me another one later, but I kept using the one I had bought. Three and a half years as a work pack and three deployments later, other than it being dirty and smelling of Jet fuel, this pack is as awesome as the day I got it. It's hard to find these in the store anymore. Hydration part works great, but I gotta admit, I did not use it that much. While not an internal frame pack, it does have a large ridged plastic plate inside. If you want a large backpack that will take A LOT of abbuse and a Hydro pack to boot, get this guy. It is WELL worth the cash.

By Richard D. Ingram
This pack is awesome for a weekend hike of 2-3 days, any more than that and you will need a pack that holds something in the vicinity of 4000-5000 cubic inches. I own the desert camo version and I love it because it is rugged, durable, and has so many pockets to carry and organize gear. This pack will hold 3 liters of water and can expand as your cargo expands. I find it to be very comfortable around the shoulders and torso with a heavy load. The molly attachments are great for lashing other smaller items to it. I have used it as a day pack in urban settings with large crowds and it probably looks funny to some because it expands outward and can look really thick. You have to be careful as you turn as to avoid whacking people with it (just looking at the pictures of it will tell the story). This pack is military spec and is made of the 1000 denier cordura material that is super tough and it is the largest pack camelbak makes. I called camelbak to ask what the BFM stands for and they told me "Big F%$#*%G Motherlode, A pretty bold name coming from such a large company. I give this ruck sack 5 stars because it deserves it and is well worth the money.

By Captain Sixpints
I've had my BFM for over 5 years, and it's received a great deal of abuse and it's still going strong. The other day I picked it up from luggage claim after a flight and one of the buckles had finally snapped, that's it. All the zippers are going strong, and there's been no wear showing on the material itself despite years of cramming all sorts of heavy and sometimes pointy things into it. The straps are very comfortable, and although I rarely use the waist belt, when I do it fits just right; a bit higher than your belt line so it doesn't interfere with anything you're carrying on your belt. This bag has served as not only a quality pack, but as a foot rest, a stool, a pillow a door stop and more. It's taken great abuse and held up strong. My only grumble about the BFM is that the MOLLE webbing on the back of the pack is sewn onto a billowed map pocket, so attaching extra pouches can lead to them flopping around a bit. A minor, complaint, and nothing that can't be fixed with an extra bit of nylon webbing but I felt I needed to point that out.All in all, I love this pack, and should it ever wear out I'd go out and buy the exact same one immediately without hesitation.
