This desk is a beast. Took about 3 hours to assemble, and I consider myself handy. It says you need 2 people, but you don't as long as you can do a step or two being creative in holding pieces together. Instructions are all pictures, so some time is lost trying to figure out what screw they're referencing from time to time. Desktop appears solid and all other parts are veneered compressed wood chip. I was hoping for a little more solid pieces, but that's what you get when you don't want to pay over a grand for a solid wood prefab desk. You can put the computer in the right cabinet, but there is no grommet for wires, instead, there is a piece you can omit that leaves about a 4" exposed gap in the back of the cabinet. Not all of the wires for the computer components reached that far, so unless I buy extensions or wireless devices, I just have the computer underneath the desk on the right side which isn't a problem. There is a useless "lock" for the left hand file cabinets. All that it does is prevent the top cabinet from opening all the way, it doesn't stop it from opening at all. Overall I'm happy. It's exactly the size I was looking for, is nice to look at, and has plenty of space for everything. As for durability... time will tell.

So I'd first like to say that I really like this desk. I've been using it for a few months, and it has a lot of great, usable space, and I plan to have it for a long time. Here are the pros and cons:Pros:1. The desk has two file drawers that lock and seem very secure. The shelf on the right side of the drawer does not lock, but is good usable space2. There is one pencil drawer that can be placed on the left or right side3. Work surface is made of strong and thick wood that resists scratches. The work surface is also big and is perfect for a computer. I put my laptop to the left or below the screen, and have an external monitor.4. The price is great. Less than $500 bucks for a solid desk like this?5. This is part of a matching set, so if you need additional matching items (book shelf, storage shelves/drawers, etc) they exist6. This desk is super sturdy. Once built it will not move an inch (I have it on carpet). So be considerate of where you build this and when you start putting together the bigger pieces.Cons:1. The desk weighs approx 225 lbs and comes in two boxes. These boxes are impossible to carry without a dolly, and if you have stairs to go up, it's almost impossible. I would recommend taking the desk in pieces to whereever you plan on building it. Once it's built, it's not going anywhere. It's a BEAST. I had to take it up 2 flights of stairs in pieces, took me about 1 hour to do this on my own.2. This thing was a challenge to put together. I would also consider myself handy, and it took me about 4 hours to build by myself. I did need a little help at a couple stages from my g/f. Think IKEA on steroids. Probably comes with 200+ pieces in total. Not for a beginner. Do yourself a favor and get a professional if you don't want to take on the challenge.3. If you plan on moving this thing could be very tough to take with you. To take it apart could take hours, and many pieces would still be very heavy. Remember, 225 lbs, so even the file cabinet alone is like 50 lbs and there are three pieces that make up the work surface, these things are 30 lbs each.4. Bestar only sells through 3rd party retailers. Be careful who you order from, b/c many of these retailers have customer service that is almost impossible to contact if something goes wrong. Less you pay = less customer service.Overall, I really like this desk and I think it will be great for my home office. Everyone that has seen it also really likes it and is blown away by the price. I also bought the storage shelves and these match the height of the desk perfectly and color perfectly. Office setup looks very professional for uner 650. Great deal. I plan on moving in 3-5 years and have NOOO idea how this thing is coming with me. I will probably sell it on craigslist to the first person willing to take it apart and get it out of here. I also have a couple flights of challenging stairs which makes this tough.
