I really like the Chase Harper 650 magnetic tank bag. I wish that I had purchased it ten or twenty years ago. On my '73 Triumph 750 Twin (with a steel '72 Tank), it sits perfectly just aft of the fuel tank cap and is firmly fastened via the magnets and is easily removed. (From the back side of my gas tank cap to my crotch, the distance is about 15" or so, so there's plenty of room for the bag without any interference.) As such, I have ample clearance when moving my handlebars left or right or steering with my legs. I don't come close to contacting the bag when cornering or anything else.I haven't chosen to use the additional security strap that is provided to fasten the front of the bag to the steering column as the magnets seem to work fine, and I've now gone up to 65 mph with some spring seasonal winds so far without incident. The magnets work great, and I won't use the strap unless the bag ends up lifting from the tank, which I doubt will happen. It seems to be fastened securely.I can fit size 11 shoes in the bag, albeit a little tight when putting them in. I've dropped items such as a two inch stack of printed documents inside with a slight center curl to them to get them to easily fit inside, and on other times I've carried my lunch, riding gloves, and other things in the bag. In addition, the side, top, and interior pockets all accommodate various items as well. On the top exposed mesh pocket, I find that it's convenient to put my clear prescription glasses inside when wearing my sunglasses to ride, and the pull tabs on all of the zippers make opening and closing the zippers a breeze. At first, I looked at the bag and thought that it might be too tall, but it actually fits my tank perfectly. It's not too tall and it's not too small. I had thought that maybe I should opt for an expandable bag, and I also looked at the 450 for smaller stuff and the 950 thinking that I might not be going large enough with the 650, but I realize now that the 950 would have been way too large for my tank. The 650, at about 5" tall, seems to be able to carry everything that I need to go back and forth to work daily and for weekend day trips. If I need to carry a laptop or anything bigger, I slide on my backpack. For 90% of my travels however, this tank bag is absolutely perfect.I haven't used the included clear plastic map sleeve that is made to hook on top of the bag as needed, and I took it off and put it on a shelf in in the garage should I ever need it in the future. I may use it one day, but I surely don't need it now, and the tank bag does not miss it one bit.I'm really glad that I got this tank bag. It works, and it works well for me.I'm also glad that the bag was made in USA! That's a good thing, too.Ride safe.
