This is a great circular saw! It's very well built and well designed to do the job. It is heavy, but that is necessary for the job you have to do.

I considered the Makita but decided to keep on with Skil mostly because of the size and kind of gears. I bought my first 77 saw in 1980 and it finally died after being rebuilt several years ago. The second I bought one year later and it now leaking slightly after being rebuilt years ago too. So I decided to buy two news saws and am very pleased with them.Each of the saws came from different places. One was an older model so I returned it and they sent me a newer model just like the earlier one I had received.The bad thing is that in 1980 I was told that it would last me the rest of my life. The good news is that I out lived the life of the saw.
