trouble with cd blank brand writing

This is a really fine unit with one exception. I attempted to write to some older Imation blank CD-Rs and the unit didn't recognize the blank as existing. After calls to Imation (Memorex) and Iomega, I learned that the Iomega does not support all manufacturers' products. Worse, the tech with whom I spoke had no idea as to who's discs this unit might support. Buy discs locally with the reservation that they may be returned if this Iomega unit doesn't recognize them.

WORKS FLAWLESSLY RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX!!

I just got ths drive yesterday, and was skeptical because I had just bought a different drive a couple days before that and had to return defective. Anyway, this drive is very well built, and easy to hook up, with no drivers needed for windows vista. Please note be careful when connecting the power plug to the unit.....it has an s-video type connector and must be alligned properly so you don't bend the pins. I have burned quite a few video projects and have had no problems with it at all. I burns all projects at top speed, and is a real time saver. I would definetly recommend this product to other amazon members.

Just a warning to any mac users who are considering this - I couldn't find any info on Amazon about system compatibility, but then saw this item in Mac Zone & figured it would be ok. I just got it today & have to send it back now - I contacted Iomega's live chat to see if drivers were available, or if they made a similar item for Macs, and was sorely disappointed in their customer service. The rep was very slow to reply, only answered my first question, disconnected me when I signed back on with the second question, and finally answered me when I signed on a third time with a new name. Frankly I was shocked, I'm not used to such terrible customer service! Anyway I'm sure the unit is great for you pc folks, but I hope you don't have any technical problems & need to contact iomega for help!!I'm giving it 4 stars because I have to give it something, I honestly don't know how good it is though.
