5quality speakers
By Discover
These speakers sound great which is not surprising because boston acoustics makes them. They need a long baking period around 30hrs before they begin sounding their best. They are not the best looking speakers but the quality is there, plus the price can not be beat at around $50 per at amazon, it's a great get. I will give it 5 stars because of the price and sound.

5Replacement Works Perfectly
By Terry
I have had a pair of these speakers for a few years, but suddenly, one of them developed a rattle that could have been either a loose wire or a problem with the cone. With no way to remove the grill cover to investigate I was faced with either finding a service center for repair or just replacing the speaker outright. Since I had originally purchased them new for less than $200 for the pair, I figured a repair would cost about as much as the speaker, itself. When I went looking for a new one, I found that they were in short supply. I was lucky enough to find what could very well have been the last one available from amazon.com.It works perfectly and handles movie soundtracks and really good music with ease. I am so glad I found it at amazon.com. I can't say enough about how happy I am with this purchase!

5excellent rear speakers
By commuterguy
I use these HS50's as my rears in combination with my other Boston Acoustics (BA) Horizon Series pieces -HS255 center (big loud clear dialogue delivery) and HS450's as fronts (simply awesome). My sub is the Mirage Omni S8 (which is a real gem folks). All pieces are connected to a Marantz SR5003.I don't know if it is the Marantz or the BA Horizon Series (probably both), but the sound is very clear and there no limits regarding how loud you wanna get...if you don't get care about replacing your windows or ear drums. The HS50's speakers are much heavier and bigger then they look in the pics. They connected easily to my 14 gage speaker cable. (I don't have to use speaker stands so I cannot commnet on that aspect.)The Marantz calibration wanted me to set to the HS50's to large, but I opted for small per the BA instructions/recommendation.The HS50's blend in so well with this sound system...that the first couple of times I played the sound system I had to purposefully ck to see if they were on.Bottom-line is one pair of HS50's for the $145 I paid was a 'steal'. I would buy them, again, with no hestitation. They are perfect for my sound system...movies or music. At this price level for speakers and sub...I do not think you can buy any better for a small to medium size room. (For a larger room consider 2 pair of HS450's.)
