Great External Storage

I have no complaints about this drive thus far. It worked just like it was supposed to right out of the box. The Firewire 800 transfer speeds are excellent. I like the automatic sleep feature as well. *Leopard users make sure to upgrade the firmware to the newest version to get the most compatibility out of this drive.

Get the Firmware Upgrade

2/16/09Be sure to go to Western Digital website and get the Firmware update and Drive Manager. After installing those this drive should be stable. Like other reviewers I was having hangs especially with iTunes. Also it seems that some widgets may have been creating conflicts. But that doesn't happen after the updates.This product is beautiful! It matches the aluminum of the iMac and MacBooks. It's fast: with FW800 it achieves real transfer rates greater than 56 MB/s. (eSATA rates would be higher, probably 110 MB/s.) Also it's quiet, cool and comes formatted in HFS+ with all necessary cables.
